Educational choice is wonderful and though our educational model is proven, ultimately we want to make sure that this is the right choice for your family.

Our experience has helped us develop the following process that will help save your family time and help you feel comfortable about your decisions whether your family chooses OAKTON or another option.

The Environment

At OAKTON, we believe in providing a nurturing and stimulating environment for our students. Our focus is not only on academic excellence but also on character development.

We are devoted to helping students grow into well-rounded individuals who are equipped to face the challenges of the future.

An Education for Life

Educational systems today focus on getting a job. OAKTON prepares students with an education not only for getting a job but also provides the educational foundation for living a fulfilling and wonderful life.

Students will know how to find truth, how to learn for themselves and how to teach and inspire others. They will understand what it is to be human and connect learning with all of life.

An Education for a Free People

We use timeless techniques that mirror childhood and young adult development. Students will be able to gather information, dissect the information using logic and reason to make informed decisions in any aspect of their life.

Students at OAKTON learn how to learn, not what to learn. No one knows what a child will grow up to be. We do know that they will be human, so instead of specializing students in a particular field we teach them how to think, how to solve problems, how to communicate and how to reason.

These are skills that they will use in any career path they choose or in family life.  They will use critical thinking skills to find the relationships between all course subjects and see beauty, love and truth in all areas of life…then we can be free.

AT OAKTON, WE:

Are Private - We are privately funded so we can remain independent.
Are Independent - The only external influence of OAKTON are goals of the parents and students.
Limit student-teacher ratio to 10:1 - Every class group will never have more than ten students. This will ensure maximum attention for your student.
Are Family First - The family is and always will be the primary influence in their child's education and life.
Practice Rewarding Rigor - We believe that the reward from hard work is self-evident and we help the student to set challenging expectations.
Use the Time Tested Classical Education Model - Though we use other forms of instruction including Montessori, Charlotte Mason, Finnish, Singapore and others, the classical education model forms the foundation of our educational structure.
Are Student Driven - The student will be challenged to progress but never to the detriment of the education. A student will also be free to progress as quickly as they can as long as they master the material.
Teach and Practice the Principles of Freedom - If future citizens do not know their freedoms or what it really is then how can they be expected to safeguard it.
Practice Simplicity for Quality - We have streamlined courses for less distraction and better interaction between course thereby decreasing the number of actual "subjects". This way a student can "dig deeper" into the lesson with quality results.
Promote Character Building - Students will be exposed to great leaders, great thinkers and great books. Discussions will be held to examine these great character building examples.
Have a Comprehensive Curriculum - Our curriculum covers everything from phonics to philosophy. All subjects are integrated as much as possible so learning expands without borders.
