When your child is rafting down a river for the first time, is there a curriculum that can truly pass that knowledge on to them?
Or would you rather have an experienced guide that knows the way, that can make course corrections when required, and teach them how to navigate the course themselves.
While some focus on a curriculum that is "really going to do it this time", our curriculum is our instructors.
Learning at OAKTON is more than a series of required courses exceeding a state standard. From phonics to philosophy, it is a journey…a discovery of truth. It is a path to wisdom and self-leadership...to living a life that inspires.
This requires more than any curriculum can provide.
Learning is Sequential
Our curriculum is designed according to an intentional sequence.
Everything our students learn builds off of what they just learned. We study history in the order it happened. Whether we are introducing students to art or philosophy, learning the basics of language or the complexities of human behavior, everything within our curriculum is done in order, according to its sequence.
Learning is Cumulative
Everything we study builds off of the previous material and curriculum.
Our students don’t formulate their own arguments until they understand the concepts of logic. They don’t learn the concepts of logic until they have built the foundation for learning and true knowledge. Everything builds upon what came before it…relying upon momentum and progress.
Learning is Integrated
OAKTON students understand that subjects relate to one another.
The philosophies of a certain time period effect the events of that period. For instance, the views of God in certain periods of history have impacted the way that art is expressed from those periods. So, whether studying art, philosophy, or science, Liberty Classical students learn within an integrated curriculum.
